Position: Computational Biologist

Location: London (Remote-office is possible)

Start date: June/July/August 2020

Program: Internship/Part-time/Full-time



You will be part of a larger team working on technologies that will enable the cultivated meat companies to flourish. On a day-to-day basis, you would be working closely with bioengineers, synthetic biologists and biochemists to develop machine-learning solutions. Exciting opportunity for people who are interested in combining biology and computer science.



  • Development of in-silico predictive models for biological systems, streamline the dry-lab pipeline. 

  • Applying (un-)supervised machine learning algorithms and neural networks for real-world challenges.

  • Opportunity to join the wet lab and participate in experiments such as DNA assembly, gene cloning, recombinant protein expression and etc.

  • Work independently.

  • Contribute to a passionate, creative and open-minded work environment


Minimum Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recently completed an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in Computer Science or other related fields.

  • Solid software engineering skills for prototyping.

  • Competent in one or more of the languages (C++, Java, Python) with a desire to learn more.

  • Knowledge of best practices for collaborative software development (version control systems, test-driven development, and good documentation habits).

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the demands of multiple concurrent projects, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • A strong curiosity of, and comfort working in, areas of biology previously unknown to you (and, at times, your peers).

  • Have a right to work in the UK.

Desired Requirements

  • Prior experience effectively managing and coordinating a small team (3–5 people)

  • A real passion for combining biology and ML.

  • Experience in applying ML to real-world problems.

  • Strong expertise in generative models and/or deep learning.
